We can get so caught up in the minor details of training and nutrition that we forget about the bigger picture. I wanted to take a  moment to step back and explain to everyone what I actually do and what I would like to achieve. I don’t want to make this sound like a lengthy advert but it may seem a bit cheesy at times. I’m not trying to make you buy my product, I just want you to hear my point of view. You have the choice of whether to agree or disagree with me.

Firstly my ultimate goal is to help as many people as possible be healthy. I know ‘healthy’ is a very subjective term, but based on scientific studies and government recommendations we have a reasonably good idea on what is good for us. I want to show people how to change habits and make their lives (and families lives) longer and more enjoyable. With obesity increasing and the related illnesses also growing, it is more important than ever to do something about it.

I appreciate that being healthy is not always a goal people strive for. It usually involves having a 6 pack or losing 10 lbs for wedding. It’s mad how we are more focussed on short term goals rather than long term health. It’s tough to see the bigger picture, but it is very important. Luckily for me, showing people how to be healthy usually means they are also meeting their superficial goals of looking good naked.

As making people healthy doesn’t sound very ‘sexy’, I try and help people lose fat. This is my main focus and this is what I enjoy doing.

How are you going to achieve that?

Unfortunately I don’t have a gimmicky product or a revolutionary product to try and sell you. I know most people promoting fat loss are onto the ‘next big thing’. I can assure you that I don’t have that! But what I do have is good old fashioned hard work, consistency and science. I don’t need to try and reinvent the wheel, as we already know what causes fat loss. I just need to teach it to you in an achievable and sustainable way.

I want to teach people how to lose fat and how to keep it off.

I give people the knowledge they need, to get the body they want. I don’t just want to give you a list of instructions, I want you to understand the reasons behind it. If you can help understand the personal benefit, you will reinforce the habit and hopefully it will stick. I try and teach people in a fun and easily digestible way.

Instead of bombarding you with information and hoping some of it will stick, I try and drip feed you knowledge. Each week we concentrate on 1 habit and only 1 habit. This way we can give ourselves they best possible chance to succeed, before moving on and smashing another habit.

By giving you the knowledge is great, but unfortunately it is not enough. What I like to do is give you the education and then follow that up with support. I have a few support mechanisms to keep you on the straight and narrow. Here are a few:

  1. The app – by providing you with an app, you can have access to all of your workouts, recipes and weekly challenges.
  2. Daily check ins – With a lot of the challenges I require you to respond to my questions or record you results. Whatever it may be, I need your buy-in on a regular basis.
  3. Messenger, email or carrier pigeon– All of my clients have unlimited access to me! Lucky people. You can ask questions, raise concerns or ask for clarification at any point or any time of day (I do have to sleep sometimes though).

What makes you different to any other PT?

Whilst I love what I do, I don’t always love the industry I work in. Personal training doesn’t always have good reputation, and deservedly so. This is something I want to change. I want to provide people with an outstanding service and pull the pants down on any other trainers. From ease of service, knowledge and enjoyable sessions I want to make training together an enjoyable experience, and most importantly I want you to hit you goals.

Training with me isn’t about rocking up for a half arsed session once a week. It is an in depth experience in which we have contact on a daily basis to support you throughout. In reality, training for 1 session in the gym in going to have little to no effect on you physical appearance. This is the reason I like concentrate on diet, support AND training. Training is important, but not the be all and end all.

Although I don’t have gimmicks, I do have one little trick up my sleeve. That trick is my very own private gym. I have hand selected all the tools I need to help anyone get in shape. This sexy little space provides me the ability to deliver a luxury service to anyone who steps foot inside. Don’t just settle for the average gym chain and expect a high class service.

What sort of training do you like?

I’m a big fan of repeatedly lifting heavy object, also known as lifting weights. I believe everyone, and I mean everyone, should be lifting weights. The benefits are endless! As my main focus is fat loss, weights and fat loss go hand in hand. I like to teach people how to train safely, effectively and enjoyably. It’s not all about doing a few bicep curls and then posing in the mirror for the next two minutes.

I don’t have a one size fits all approach to training. All of the workouts are tailored to your needs. If you enjoy high intensity interval (HIIT)  workouts, then we will do lots of those. If you like strength work and enjoy seeing the numbers going up, then we will focus on that. Each method can be tailored to meet your goals. I want you to enjoy training and look forward to turning up at the gym.
